We are always on the lookout for great people to work with us in producing our delicious range of iconic cocktails, and then unleashing them at special occasions and events for all to enjoy.

We are all about the people: the people we work with and the people we work for. And we want the best of both worlds. To do this, firstly we need to find the best we can to work with us. This industry typically employs people in their 20s and frowns upon those in their 30s and 40s – we don’t! In fact, we think a little life experience is a good thing and helps make a better bartender, especially if you have a thing for the 80s. We still love our 20-somethings for their vitality, youth and fresh ideas, but find that a mix of people of all ages and backgrounds gives our events the personality that brings them to life.

To be successful in doing this you will need the following qualities.

• Be a people person! We interact with people of all ages from different walks of life, so it’s important that you’re a likable soul. Chances are that if you ask 10 people you know (who aren’t related) honestly what they think of you, and the responses are negative in nature, you probably won’t fit in with our team.
• Have a great sense of humour! You don’t need to be a comedian, but an understanding and appreciation for when to use humour, and when humour is being used, is an advantage. We are a fun group of people and we seem to attract the same both in staff and clients, so a good sense of humour goes a long way.
• Have a passion for cocktails! Everyone in our company and everyone we come in contact with just loves cocktails, so it makes sense that you do too.
• Be flexible & reliable! Our events take place in differing geographical locations and at various times of the day or night. This doesn’t mean we want you available 24/7, but given the nature of the work, it does require a commitment that is different from most jobs.
• Be reasonably fit! Given that Cocktail Events is a mobile cocktail bar, the job involves some lifting and can require some diverse manual handling. We unload vehicles, set up bars on location, carry stock, pack up the bars and reload the vehicles, as well as do the usual duties of any great bartender. We make every possible effort to make these tasks as safe and as easy as possible through the use of equipment, but lifting, bending, twisting and walking are still required.

Everything else we can teach you! We will teach you how to make the cocktails so there’s no need to worry about knowing any recipes. Even the best bartenders don’t remember every recipe, just usually the ones they like. We can teach you all the skills and techniques too – all you need is the desire and the commitment to learn.
